What is the PelletBase Auction? The PelletBase Auction is software which connects biomass buyers with suppliers. The use of PelletBase software is free to all users. When a buyer's requirement is posted on PelletBase, suppliers can choose to be notified by email. Suppliers then have the opportunity to offer the buyer a product and price. How many suppliers use PelletBase? PelletBase membership is approaching 1200, with new suppliers joining every day. These companies have the option to register as an auction supplier. How do suppliers benefit? Suppliers can choose to be notified by email when a buyer posts a contract for the type of biomass which a supplier provides. Suppliers can start receiving these emails by checking the 'Notify me' box in 'Edit profile'. How do buyers benefit? By posting a requirement on PelletBase, buyers can select from multiple offers. These offers may differ in terms of price and quality, and the buyer can select a supplier that offers the most appropriate combination of the two. What does it cost to use the Pelletbase Auction? Use of PelletBase software is free of charge. Why must my company be a member of PelletBase listings before I can register as a supplier at the auction? Because we try to ensure that companies registering for listings are genuine biomass-related companies. When you register as a supplier, the system checks that your email already exists in the PelletBase product listings. (Buyers do not need to register for listings before posting a contract). If your company is already registered as a supplier on PelletBase but you get a 'company not found' message, please check that you are registering at the auction using the same email address as you used for listings, or contact us for help. Example transaction A buyer registers on the system and posts a requirement for 3 tons of pellets. A supplier bids $300 for the contract. The buyer accepts the supplier's offer, and the supplier accepts the contract. The supplier receives an email containing the buyer's email address, at which point PelletBase's role is complete. Buyer and supplier can now arrange, between themselves, payment and delivery of the pellets. Does PelletBase supply pellets? No. PelletBase is not a pellet manufacturer or supplier. PelletBase offers registered users FREE use of their software. PelletBase does not handle payment for goods, and is not responsible for the price, timeliness or quality of goods delivered, which are matters solely for the buyer and supplier of the goods. What details about me are visible to other auction users? The username you have chosen when signing up is visible to other users. Once a contract is completed, both parties to the contract have the opportunity to leave feedback, which will also be visible. Buyers and suppliers at the auction can be anonymous, but once a contract is settled, contact details will be exchanged so that the delivery can take place. What happens if a contract is not honoured? Buyers should not pay for product unless they are sure it will be delivered to specification. Caveat Emptor. Similarly, suppliers should not deliver product unless they are sure they will be paid the agreed amount. PelletBase is not reponsible for the amount, quality, timeliness, delivery method or price of products offered by users of PelletBase software. Users should check feedback scores before agreeing to trade. PelletBase is not responsible for any loss incurred by either party. Please click on the 'Terms' link at the foot of this page for further information. Can I register as both a buyer and supplier? Yes. Your username and password can be the same for both accounts. On-line messaging Once registered, you can correspond using the on-line messaging system. These messages are only visible to the sender and receiver. |
